Win10 and fingerprint scanner
The upgrade from 8.1 went mostly well.
So far, the major remaining issue is that the Dell Data Protection Tools (DDP) do not recognize the fingerprint scanner.
The Broadcom USH w/touch sensor is not being recognized when the installers run.
Device Manager says:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There are no compatible drivers for this device.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.
When trying to update the driver through the sensor Properties,
The machine is a Latitude E6530 (Mid 2012).
I manually uninstalled all Dell DDP-related tools in Control Panel.
Downloaded, uninstalled and then reinstalled :
- Dell Data Protection | Security Tools (STInstaller-1.6.1.1055.zip - Version 1.6.1.1055,A14)
- Dell Data Protection|Encryption v8.6.1 (MasterInstaller-8.6.1.1197.zip - Version 8.6.1.1197,A14)

Did you every find a solution to this? I'm in the exact same boat. Everything is working except I can't enroll any finger prints. It sees the reader, but when I swipe, nothing.
Thanks, Matt

No.
My computer says there is no reader.

My m6800 sees all the hardware OK with the latest drivers and such but I can't actually use the reader. I opened a support ticket and at least got confirmation that they know about the problem and are working on it. They do not have an ETA yet.
"Unfortunately we do not have a fix for that yet. Dell is aware of the issue and it's working on the fix. At the moment we do not have an ETA on how long it will take or when will Dell release the new drivers. You can try checking back the site every once in awhile for the drivers update."
Everything else is working very well so far under Win 10, so I guess I'll let it go until the drivers are available.

Very often the issue is linked to drivers updated for IO attached via USB, for example an wired Ethernet IO extension box. As most fingerprint sensors are attached via USB, the order of the USB driver stack is from security point of view important. Deinstalling and reinstalling the Fingerprint driver after every USB driver update will bring the fingerprint sensor back to operation. It is really annoying, how often I reinstall the driver for the finger print sensor. I can not completely grant it, however it seems to be a specific issue with broadcom drivers.
