Windows 10 Desktop "Preparing Automatic Repair"
My desktop keeps "Preparing Automatic Repair" every time it restarts or starts up after a shutdown.
It will boot up just fine after choosing the hard drive with the OS under devices and no issues when waking up from sleep mode. No difference in performance from before this issue began.
I've tried a system restore that did go through but the issue still persists.
Any solutions to avoid the "Preparing Automatic Repair" process or to at least find out why it's even going to that screen?

You might try disabling the Fast Startup option.
Right click Windows button, Power Options, Additional Power settings then "Choose what the power buttons do" on the upper left.. Click on the Change settings to unlock changes.

There is physical damage to the drive and its getting ready to die.
Time for a new drive thats not going to die in the next few days.
