Ignore that error message it will work fine with the Intel 945GM and the Intel 965GM. They share the same driver.
On a clean install of Windows 10 Build 10130 on a Latitude D820 with Intel 945GM the device manager looks like this:
Then after installation of Intel Chipset Device Software and then the Intel video.

As you can see everything works fine. The Intel 965GM and Intel 945GM share the same drivers so it will also work without an issue.
Thanks for that. I am using a dell inspiron 1525 made about 2007. When I first checked windows 10, the chip set came up as an issue but later changed to a critical issue I assumed that when windows 10 installs it would upgrade the chip set . I am not really technically minded but I hope you are right. Thanks again.
I done some more testing here... On a Clean Install Windows Update will take care of everything automatically.
Det Here is what I did on my Dell 1525 with the 965 chipset This resolved critical error issue for me.
There was a problem with the Windows 10 update adviser I had read.
.I removed old installed versions KB3035583 and KB2952664 updates. Reran Windows Update and (The Newer apparently) versions of KB3035583 and KB2952664 appeared. I installed the newer updates. The next day the Get Windows 10 ran and this time showed no problems. The You're good to go status appeared
