Windows 10 Upgrade - Inspiron 3847 - Dell software issues
Hello
I have upgraded my Inspiron 3847 to Windows 10, upgraded Dell "backup and restore" and made a backup.
Dell programs still keep telling me to upgrade.
Dell "update" does nothing, Dell "customer connect" likewise.
Dell "notification centre" is not supported - need to use W10 "activation center".
How many of the old Dell programs should I uninstall, what should I re-install if any?
Thank you

Which Dell programs are asking to upgrade? The only one that actually asked me was Dell Backup & Restore, but I uninstalled it instead (in favor of Windows options & Seagate DiscWizard). Dell Support Assist - may have asked - but I think informed me it was self-updating. I think it also informed me Dell Update was on its way in, but ultimately I've uninstalled that too. I've kept Support Assist.
I'm not an actual Dell person. Like most here, I'm just a user. Mine is a Dell Inspiron 3542 that upgraded from Win 8.1 to Win 10 well enough, very well I think. Still, I went to my support site (months after the upgrade) & discovered nearly all the drivers offered there were higher versions than what I had. The other few were lesser versions. Therefore, Dell Update (meant to work like Windows Update) on my taskbar actually wasn't working, though it kept saying otherwise. After manually updating all my drivers from my Drivers & Downloads site - which went very well for me this time (as it did the first time when I was Win 8.1) - I've uninstalled & bid farewell to Dell Update. I doubt it even worked for me in Win 8.1. The few drivers I had greater versions of than at the site very likely came in through Windows Update.
Here is your site, which, like mine, has Win 10 drivers...

Inspiron 3847 Desktop Drivers & Downloads
(1) My site does well by me. I fervently hope yours will by you.
(2) I've read the site will not work for you, if you haven't registered the computer.
(3) Like mine, your site is offering two drivers apiece for the graphics (Intel & nVidia) & the WiFi (1705/1707 & 1704/1708). In my case, I was told long ago which choices to make by a Dell tech. If you haven't got that option, perhaps look in Device Manager to see which are installed - & take only those...
(4) At the Drivers & Download site, click "Find it Myself" & enter your service tag (located on a sticker under your computer)...
Ensure it is set to the proper OS, then take the downloads. Finally, click them one at a time to do the installs. Reboot when told. Also, reboot when done with the last whether told or not.
All went well for me without uninstalling the previous versions. My Realtek ALC3234 Audio driver made a show of uninstalling its predecessor before installing itself. This one had this peculiarity: It took near a minute for it to start upon clicking the download. If that happens with yours - be patient! I don't know what happens, if one clicks twice!
Another peculiarity: My Dell Wireless 1705 WiFi + Bluetooth driver asked "Modify, Repair, or Remove", with repair pre-selected. I chose that, & it did enough to look more like a full install. Upon reboot, there were only four icons in my Tray. However, the rest were hiding in the "Show Hidden Icons" (^) box - & just needed to be dragged back out. Don't fret & futilely reboot again like I did.
Good luck. Post back with a progress report or further questions.
