If you use a utility like Acronis or Macurium Reflect then you may do a full system backup and then an incremental backup. The incremental backup backs up changes since the last backup and takes a lot less space.
I would trust these 2 utilities far more than the Dell utility although its recommended to use multiple utilities and multiple external hard drives just in case.
For really important files you should also have a cloud backup configured using a service such as Microsoft SkyDrive.
