Studio XPS 435T/9000 & Windows 8

I tried to set up my system for dual boot to Windows 8 Pro but it kept hanging. Just checked the Dell compatability list and it shows the XPS 435t/9100 as not supported. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Workarounds? Am I just out of luck?

Hi AlanAT,

Dell has not tested windows 8 for this system.

The reason why system hangs is because few items are not compatible for windows 8 that’s when you are facing an issue.

Please do get back to us for further assistance or information.

It should work. It's just a normal computer.

You will have to supply details on "hanging" (when, where, etc.)

I was able to successfully install Win 8 Pro - no issues

435t 9000

Upgraded RAM to 24GB

Have now installed SanDisk SSD & installed Win 8 Pro on it.

Now looking for options to upgrade the original HD Radeon 4350 video card.

Still have the original power supply

You sound like a power user.

That little PS will forever hold you back. A nice (modular cable) Corsair PS is only around $100. I put a Corsair 750w in my XPS-410 (and a 650w in my brother's). Runs cool and quiet even under heavy gaming loads.

I suggest you stick with AMD, XFX is good. Maybe a 6870 or 6950 (6xxx) card with PCIe v2.0 to avoid possible v3.0 compatibility problems.
