will adding partition on HDD affects recovery CD that was made?
I already created a recovery cd ( 3 dvds ) and a windows repair boot cd. Now I looked at the partitions of the 1TB hardisk that came with my inspiron 7720, it has 4 partition. I think 3 of them are hidden, I cant say what files are in those partition, but one thing is for sure, 1 of those is the recovery partition. Now my question is, I want to create an additional partition for the largest chunk of the drive it has 800GB, I want to at least divide it in half. Would that be possible without affecting my recovery CD's if ever I'll be needing to repair my system? I read somewhere that It made an error because the recovery system does not detect the same volume of the hard drive.
Please enlighten me. I dont have a Win8 Installer that's why its important for me to know if it will affect the recovery CD's when something bad happens to my system

Not a good idea to partition the drive at all. It will cause problems. Recovery on the same hard drive is handled by windows. Recovery disks allow you to access the recovery partitions when you cannot access the option within windows. There are 2 recovery options available within windows with no disks needed-- in Windows PC Settings, General--Refresh which reinstalls the windows system files but keeps your personal files while removing every program you added OR Remove and reinstall which keeps nothing and returns the drive to Factory Settings--basically a Clean Install.
BTW, always a good idea to test your Recovery disks to make sure they work. You don't have to go through with the recovery. Just see if the disks let you access the hidden partitions or DataSafe if that is what you used. The best Windows recovery disk is a Thumb drive, not a series of dvd's or cd's. Most users have reported that multiple disks don't work. A 2GB thumb drive can be used for a Recovery drive. The recovery drive will be the only thing on the drive. Search for Create a Recovery drive in Settings.
If you haven't done this already--open Disk Management to see how the drive is partitioned. Windows key + X will get you there quickly. Read this: gcn.com/.../say-goodbye-bios-hello-uefi.aspx And research more on drive partitioning in windows 8.

Theres a few things I recommend you to do:
1. Don't create recovery DVDs instead create a recovery USB; if one DVD fails to burn incorrectly (which is quite common) then you have no recovery media. See page 428 of Windows Reinstallation Guide.
2. I also advise creating an image of your hard drive using Acronis and saving it to an external hard drive. See page 333-348 of Windows Reinstallation Guide.
3. You can also restore your system to the factory settings and create an additional hard drive image of the factory settings using Acronis.
4. You can use Acronis to restore your image that you made (before reverting to the factory settings).
5. You can then repartition your hard drive using EaseUS Partition Manager see page 349 of Windows Reinstallation Guide. You can then create another image using Acronis. The internal factory restore function will be lost through use of EaseUS partition manager.

hello everyone,
If you re- partitioned your hard drive and if suddenly some error occur, It lead the data lose only happened in C: All other colon data are safe. But, windows will be corrupted. You will need replace Operating system again to install. Format only c drive at the top of second partition and take backup for new one (recommended usb/create image disk).
First partition System Reserved
Second Partition C:
Third Partition Other and so on

Disk partitioning is the way of creation of one or more regions on a hard disk or other secondary storage, so that an operating system can manage information in each region separately. it will help to use of multi-boot setups, which allow users to have more than one operating system on a single computer. Also, it easier to recover a corrupted file system or operating system installation. If one partition is corrupted, other file systems may not be affected.
In case of adding partition on HDD, does not affects recovery CD that was made. But it migh be possible if you have re-partitioned your drive and there is any error then you may lose your data and to recover the important data you can use the provides solution.
