64bit upgrade version of Windows 7 rather than 32bit
Like so many people on here I am currently trying to get ahold of the 64bit version of Vista as per this thred:
http://en.community.dell.com/forums/p/19254009/19492783.aspx#19492783
Problem is that anyone doing this who then orders an upgrade disk from Dell will then be ordering the 32bit version of Windows 7 so...
Does anyone know how to change their upgrade order from 32 bit to 64 bit ?

When you order Windows 7, you receive two CDs - one for 32 bit and one for 64 bit. If you are moving from 32 bit Windows XP or Vista, to 64 bit Windows 7, you must do a clean install for an upgrade will not work.

Yes if you order from Microsoft, No if your waiting for the free Windows 7 upgrade disk from DELL - in that case we're going to get the same disk as what the system was originally built with (even if dell have sent us a different OS in the meantime).
Whats wrong is that DELL need to change their upgrade program so the users select which bit type they want sending out (or send us both 32bit and 64bit just like what Microsoft do).
I did read the FAQ question:
Can I change the version/language of the Dell Windows 7 Upgrade kit?
No. The Windows® 7 operating system version and language that you receive must be the same as the operating system version and language of Windows Vista that you purchased with your PC.
I would argue that i am not changing the version of the OS as I still need Home Premium but the "bit" change should be possible as per DELL global policy document DSN 158098
I have contacted support and they are unable to help.

markcarline,
Thank you for contacting the Dell Community Forum. If I understand you correctly, you originally purchased your system with the 32-bit version of Windows Vista, then had Dell send you a disc for the 64-bit version, and want to make sure you get the 64-bit version of Windows 7 when you upgrade to that OS. Since the version of the upgrade you receive is tied to the version of the OS you ordered originally (see "Can I change the version/language of the Windows 7 Upgrade Kit?" on the FAQ here), your best bet is to contact our customer service department for further assistance. If you explain the situation to them, they may be able to process a 64-bit upgrade for you. They can be reached at (800) 624-9897 (for home users) or (800) 456-3355 option 3 (for small business users).

Wow.
Support have just phoned me and they have managed to cancel my order for the 32bit version and they have changed my order so I am able to now order the 64bit version. Just logged onto the site and paid my £15 P+P.
Just need to wait for it to arrive :)
Anyone know when dell will actually be sending them out ?
