See if you can access the system as System Administrator. Boot to Safe Mode (start tapping F8 on startup and select Safe Mode from the menu that appears). In Safe Mode at the Welcome screen press Ctrl-Alt-Delete
twice and on the sign-in screen that appears enter
Administrator as the user name. Leave the password blank (it should be blank by default). If you are able to log on, go to Start|Control Panel|User Accounts and create a new administrator account for yourself (or modify the existing corrupted one). If you create a new one, take ownership of your old files with the procedure
