Adobe Flash Player is an
Active X. In Internet Explorer go to Tools>Internet Options. Under Browser History click on Settings, Click on View Objects, and look for Shockwave Flash Object. This is the Adobe Flash Player. These are the instructions for IE 7. If you are using IE 6 the instructions are similar.
It sounds like some other process is identifying itself as Chrome and preventing the installation. If you're using Chrome browser itself, Google embeds Flash Player in Chrome and there is no need to install Flash Player separately, yet, Google does defuse Flash Player by default, forcing users to enable it. you may check out How to unblock adobe flash player for more information in detail.
