Archiving VHS tapes to DVD

I wonder if I can do this.  I'd like to be able to play a tape on my VCR, output the video to a file (or files) on my computer through the appropriate cabling (some sort of multiple RCA to USB) and burn it to DVD.  I have a laptop running Windows 7.  I don't have a TV card built in (don't know if that matters).  Is there any software that makes this possible?

Several Vendors make stand alone Devices to burn from VHS to DVD.

They wont copy Macrovision protected tapes however.

A standalone DVD recorder such as Speedstep mentions is the best and most efficient way.  Although it can be done on a PC, it ties up the PC for long periods as you must first "record" the video to the hard drive and then burn the DVD.  It's not a simple direct tape to DVD process with the PC.
