Audigy Advanced MB (Creative MediaSource 5 Player) Problem

Any information gratefully received. Assuming I'm in the correct forum?

Have Inspiron 530 just a couple of days old. Running Vista.

Using the Audigy Advanced MB (Creative MediaSource 5 Player) I can only record from a MIC if it is plugged in. When I click "Record Options", The "Select Recording Source" is greyed out, unless the mic is plugged in then only that option is available. I thought I should have many more options available like WAV and "What you hear" etc, but they are simply not there.

Any thoughts please anyone?

The "System Mixer" (what you hear) is not available on Integrated Audio Systems.  Actually you have a Realtek integrated audio (on the motherboard) with the Audigy Advanced MB Software Enhancement to the Realtek.

There is a "fix" that was posted by a user in the XPS forum section that worked for some systems and you can try it on yours to see if it will work. No guarantee.

"Went into Control Panel's "Sound" then "Recording" Right hand click in a blank space and check "Show Disabled Devices" Then click properties and under Device Usage click "Use this device"

Oh Thanks fireberd. I'm so pleased it was you who responded. I've seen a lot of your posts and you sure have got your finger on the pulse.

I tried your suggestion and yes the Realtek Stereo mixer came up and it does work. Thank You.

I'm still a bit confused why the other options like WAV etc aren't there, the docs say they should be but I'll do a bit more digging and see what I should or should not have.

Thanks very much for your help.

Best regards.
