Hello Cody,

I have entered services as before and Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) just does not appear in that list. It is gone and I have no clue as to why. I have found this link http://forums.techarena.in/windows-update/920457.htm where the guy had the exact same problem as I and he gives a solution at the bottom of the page but I do not know how to do it as it is not explained very well. I would appreciate if anyone could give me a dummies walkthrough for this.

Cheers

redout-

Hi, my name’s Cody, and I’m working with the Windows Vista Outreach Team to help address any questions or concerns people might have about their copies of Vista.  In searching through the Vista site and looking for a solution to your problem, I noticed this link :  http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/5f3f02f4-69bc-47a5-9e40-8c9b86ffb2fd1033.mspx  You may have seen the possible solutions listed in this link before, but I didn’t see it mentioned in either of your posts, so I figured it might be a good one for you to take a look at.   Let me know if this is helpful at all.  If not, please tell me, and I’ll see if I can get you in touch with someone that has a bit more advanced technical knowledge on the subject!

Thanks,

Cody

redout-

I just wanted to let you know I have shared your issue with some folks on the Vista Outreach Team with a little more technical expertise than myself, and they are going to do some research to try and figure out exactly what is keeping your updates from working properly.  I'll keep in touch with you and let you know what they find out!

Thanks,

Cody
