Bad image message associated with SFC.DLL

I am getting messages of the form: program - bad image. c\windows\system32\sfc.dllis either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. The programs include msnmsgr.exe, ccc.exe, dsc.exeregsvr32.exe.

Also the printer has disappeared and I cannot even add a new printer to get it back. I have run several anti virus programs but found nothing. I have also done a system restore to an earlier date before the problems.

I am running Vista on and Inspiron 530

Any help would be very welcome

HI, I started having a similar problem after doing a system restore. Have you found out why you system did what it did.

Sorry - never got any responses to help me and no idea of the causes. I did a restore to factory condition and now things seem to be OK

glad to hear you system works ok now. I have about 3 dll's that are giving me problems and I guess i will have to do an image restore also. Did your restore completely restore the o/s files also since I believe some of these dll's are in the o/s. and was there any problems doing the image restore. thanks

I used the Dell setup to restore to the condition in which I received the computer on delivery. That contained some software including Vista. To do this I pressed F8 at startup and chose option to repair the computer. I had previously copied all files etc to elsewhere save them as everything on C disk is deleted. I am now in the process of reconnecting the printer and scanner etc and relaoding all personal software. Not a job I want to do too often though this is the second time I have had to do this!

Good luck
