Bar Path - Help!

Can someone please help me?  I try and sign on to my People PC Internet Access and I get a small window that states:

"GetBarTPath Failed"

Any ideas?  Do I need to reinstall People PC?

thanks

Reinstalling is an option, however, I'd try to contact People PC support first.  They should know their software and maybe have something that will fix it without a complete reinstall.

I am trying to help someone with the same problem.  He tells me that People PC will not help him, claiming it's a Microsift problem.

His PC displays an error when the user's profile loads.  The failure seems to be associated to the PPC browser "BartShel.exe" (C:\Program File\PeoplePC\ISP6130\Browser).  Ok, past the error and the error will pop again when you dbl-click the (PeoplePC Online) shortcut.

The owner of the PC believes that a browser hijacker did the damage, but I suspect a MS patch may have reset the path from the proprietary browser pat to IE.  The jury's still out.

This is an email reply I received from Peoplepc:
Regarding your concern, we recommend that you reinstall the PeoplePC Online software. You can reinstall our software while connected with our dialer. Just connect to the internet and go to http://getsoftware.peoplepc.com

Alternatively, you may use PeoplePC CD to download the software. To order a PeoplePC CD, please call us at 1-866-PPC-MBRS (1-866-772-6277). Our Sales department is available 7 days a week from 7 A.M. to 2 A.M. EST. Please note that you will receive your PeoplePC CD within 5-7 business days.

Please be advised that our installation process (when not connected) first uninstalls any previous version of software that you may have downloaded.

Hope this helps anyone.

Fire Peoplepc...lol
Which service did you switch too?  Any difference in connection speed?

I found a less creative solution.  After explaining the real problem to the guy who ownes the computer, he decided to fire PeoplePC and sign up with a different provider.  For $5 less a month, he has a working service that doenst require unecessary dialer software.

I had to manually remove the PeoplePC software because the uninstall (as is documented all over the Internet) didn't work.  It was a 'win-win' for everyone but PeoplePC.

BasicISP.net.  $6 a month and only requires MS DUN. Probably no quicker since that generally is greatly affected by local phone lines.  (correction, lots faster cause it work)!  :)
