Blue Screen - error code 0x00000007E

Question

After I installed XP Service Pack 3, I get the blue screen when I turn on my desktop and the error code 0x00000007E (or 0x0000000FC) and XP won't load. I am desperate to avoid a complete re-installation of Windows. Can anybody help, please?

Simple - Press F8 (safe mode) and restore back to the previous restore point, before you upgraded SP3.
