How do I interrupt the boot up process on a Inspiron Mini 9 (910) to get into safe mode?

That works on a normal keyboard. This mini does not have function keys as such. I have tried the "Fn" key while pressing the # 8 key with no result. I have tried the same combination with the "Ctrl" key.

What do you suggest?

Start the 910 and press F8 several times at rhe Dell logo boot screen, before the progress bag gets to the end. Then select Safe Mode.

Addition: To get F11 and F12, you need the latest BIOS update.
