I have no idea, it only allows you to boot to a DOS prompt from which you can do nothing. I'm glad to hear that you found a Dell tecnician to confirm that DOS is integrated into Windows XP. I'll pass that information along to Bill Gates, who is currently unaware of it. He'll be amazed, I'm sure.
That would probably be the same misinformed Dell technician who was having people flash their system BIOS to update firmware on LG CDRW drives a while back. :smileysurprised: (Note to the uninitiated: This is
not how one updates firmware.)
As the article says, "This step-by-step article describes how to create a boot disk for Windows XP to access a drive with a faulty boot sequence on an Intel-processor-based computer."
If I had a drive with a faulty boot sequence this might be useful, but restoring a cloned image of my drive will be faster.

Hi
Well Windows XP uses DOS too. You can boot right into DOS Mode after booting up from this
CD-ROM boot disk. The purpose may be that if you want to access your CD-ROM and
CD+/-RW drives OR DVD-ROM and DVD+/- RW drives or maybe a combo drives in order to
reinstall Windows XP operating system on the hard drive again or use the Windows XP CD to repair
your Windows XP operating system from corrupt registry.

I used that boot disk with my Windows 98 SE system. What purpose do you have for it with Windows XP?

Here is the link to the Dell article on creating the CD-ROM boot disk by CDENAB.EXE file:

There is no DOS in Windows XP. The Windows XP CD is bootable. There is no reason to have an emergency boot diskette in Windows XP.
