CPU usage shoots up
Hi I would like some advice.
I have a DELL 8400 which has 1024MB RAM and 250GB hard drive and im running XP SP2.
Thing is I notice when doing a couple processes that my CPU usage shoots up. I wouldnt call the number of processes alot, there just ones that are needed.
How would you go about improving things so the CPU usage isnt shooting up to 100% as it is when say I run a scan with Spysweeper or other programme?
I notice I have like 220GB free which I think is alot but with my RAM I only have 55% free of that 1024MB.
Can someone give me advice on whats the best thing to do please to improve this.
Thank you.

To add to what Greymack says.
Windows will gracefully release RAM as and when an app needs it. So your RAM is being utilised to best advantage at all times to optimise system performance. No point having it unused, is there.
