Can I install Windows XP on a Dell Studio 1458?

I wanted to install Windows XP on my dell studio 1458 laptop. Will it work? Please let me know. Thanks.

Hi suman512, Yes you can, but it will have to be an retail version of XP.  Dell do not supply any drivers, or OS for XP  for your model. See HERE.

Dell ONLY has Windows 7, 64 bit OS drivers.  There are no XP drivers so you will probably have problems finding drivers for all the devices and most likely you will never find drivers for some devices. 

However, if you wanted to try XP the best suggestion is to remove the Dell hard drive and install a different hard drive and try with that.  If you installed over the original Dell supplied Win 7 you will corrupt the Dell recovery partition and will not be able to reinstall back to the factory condition without discs.  From posts on this forum, many that want to install or try a different OS use a different hard drive to preserve the original Dell configuration.
