Can't Connect to Internet when using Turbo Tax

I am connected with a Comcast high speed internet connection which is on all the time.  However, when I open Turbo Tax and try to get upgrades or to file my returns electronically, I get an error message telling me that I am not logged on to my ISP.  I know that this is not the case since I can surfe the web, send e-mails, ect at the same time I am on Turbo Tax.

I have ununstalled and re-installed Windows Explorer, disabled my McAfee firewall and done everything that Intuit has suggested and still cannont connect.   Any ideas out there???

Try connecting to the internet first and then open Tax.

Also check your connection settings in Turbo Tax. It's on the menu under Online, Internet Connection Setup. Choose "Use my computer's Internet connection settings....etc." Try updating your Turbo Tax using the One Click Updates from the same menu and see if it works. Make sure your Internet Explorer Connections are set up correctly to "Never dial a connection."

Thanks for the suggestioins.  Unfortunately I have tried all of them.  Since I use a cable modem, I am always connected to the internet and I make sure I have good connection before I open Turbo Tax.  Also, I have reviewed my settings for the online tab in Turbo Tax.  I have also severely reduced my security settings and disabled my firewall - all without success.

Any other ideas out there????

I have the same set up and don't have to disable anything to connect with Turbo Tax. You shouldn't have to disable your firewall. Set it to allow Turbo Tax to connect to the Internet. Open your Internet Options, Connections tab and check your LAN settings. Nothing should be checked on that page--no automatic settings, scripts or proxy servers. See if that's the problem. Try Intuit's help page again if it's still a problem. Maybe a uninstall-reinstall of TT would help.

THANK YOU MARY G.!!!!!!!!!!!

I checked out my Internet Applications on my McAfee firewall and gave full access to the Turbo Tax Engine.

Thanks again.
