Can't connect through Remote Desktop
My PC is a optiplex 960sff using Windows XP Service Pack 3. After first-time setup, I disabled windows firewall, enabled remote desktop and tried to connect it. But not success, it does not prompt me even username and password. There is no firewall/antivirus on the PC.

I finally find out the answer to this problem. The problem is caused by the Nvidia Display card driver. The driver version installed on the machine and provided on the website caused the remote desktop to crash. I installed the latest driver provided by Nvidia and the problem is gone.
I hope Dell's concerning personnel will test the drivers throughly before issuing to the customers.

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum

Sorry for being misleading. What I mean is that whenever I setup the new PC (Optiplex 960), I turned on "remote desktop", turned off "windows firewall", give a password to the local administrator account. And use another PC to connect this PC through remote desktop, I can't!
After typing the PC name (or IP address) to connect to, it wait for a short time and prompt me the machine to connect again (just like I haven't press the connect button". But when I type "telnet pc_name 3389" in command prompt, it accepts the connection. That shows the machine is accepting remote desktop connection, but some how terminate it before giving me a chance to enter credentials.

I had the exact same problem on Dell OptiPlex 360. Updated Nvidia driver for GeForce 9300 GE from version 6.14.11.7542 to 6.14.11.9062 and that fixed the problem.
Thanks for the info.
