Right click on the file and go to the properties - check which program the file 'opens with:'
Try changing the file association to another program and then try deleting it.
If successful, go to another mpg file properties to change the mpg file association back to your preferred program.
Please post your results. =)

What is the extension of the file?

October 10th, 2006 04:00

Data001,

I've tried right-clicking on the file but the usual menu doesn't come up at all.

I've tried opening it with another program and i can't change the extension because the file won't let me rename/edit it's title/name.

Thanks for you suggestion though. Any other ones?

Nothing. The menu doesn't come up at all when i right click on the file.

I accessed properties by clicking File> Properties on the folder menu.

But even then no details come up

I don't usually ask directly for a file name since there could be privacy concerns but I'd like to be able to do a little research to see if anyone else has had an issue directly related to the same file.

Is it possible that the file is still listed in a library file in one or more of your player applications?

I've checked all my media libraries like you said and the file doesnt appear to be in any of them.

Sorry

I found the video here:
The file autoplayed in Windows Media Player.
File properties, accessed using WMP indicate length, Media Type, video size, codec and location.
Playlist property details indicate the title of the playlist the file would be included in would be Playlist8.
No licensing info was available.
Attempted saving file, and system attempted to place the file in C:\Documents and Settings\*Username*\My Documents\My Music\My Playlists with the filename BMW M5 Drifting Around track.mpeg. Check to see if this is your file's location.
What it actually saves is an internet shortcut to http://www.dl330ci.com/Video%20Library/BMW%20M5%20Drifting%20Around%20track.mpeg with an additional shortcut leading to http://www.dl330ci.com/videos.aspx.
I would suggest deleting temporary internet files, cookies and history files, as the properties also list the number of times the site was visited, indicating cookie usage. Let me know if this helps?
