Cannot boot from win7 64bit cd
I have vista ultimate 32 bit on my XPS M1730 and I bought a Windows 7 Pro 64 bit upgrade cd. I know I can't simply upgrade without the clean install. So I restarted for a clean install and changed the boot sequence to cd. The problem is the win 7 64bit upgrade cd is not booting at all. It tries for 30 seconds (i can hear the cd and see the stall on the screen while it tries) then starts windows vista again. Is there something special about M1730 or any dell XPS that I need to do to be able to boot from cd and install windows 7 fresh?

Have you tried pressing F12 on restart & manually boot from the DVD.

If it will not boot from CD you can always copy files to a flash drive and load via the flash drive. Its a little faster install too. You can google the how to process.
