Thanks for the help.  However, it seemed to work in the cmd window, but I still can't open my C:\ drive.

When I attempt to open my C drive, I'm ask what program I want to use.  When I right click on the C drive, the first two choices (Open and Browse), look as if they are written in what may be first cousin to Chinese.  After going to the forum, I found someone with the same problem and the suggested fix is below.  It is difficult for me to determine if there are spaces at some points of the path but I typed in several different configurations of the attrib yadda yadda and none were correct.  Alot4u also gave a link to a download fix.  I did that and, afterward, was given a window that said my folders would open with a double click.  Folder?  Is drive C a folder???  Anyway, it still won't open.  Can anyone help?  Thank you.

I think I've got a similar issue that rikki1983 experienced.  I've been trying to get into my C:\ drive, but when I go to My Computer and double-click or right clicked to open the drive, a dialog box pops up and asks me to choose a program.  I have tried to alter the way the drive opens through the Folder Options dialog in My Computer.  I tried downloading the file (Name: XP_folder_open.vbs, Type: VBScripe Script File, 503 bytes, From: www.dougknox.com) that was recommeded to rikki1983 but C:\ Drive still will not open.    Could someone please advise?  Thanks!
