thanks,, I am tapping it anywhere on the front,, doesnt matter ,, it still hums,, ,, all I have to do is turn the computer on, it starts the humming immediatley,, , I have inserted no cd's,
When was the last time you cleaned out the dust buildup from inside the case? When you go to do that, also check to make sure HD is still mounted securely, and make sure cooling fan is clear of dust and obstructions......may help with the issue.
HD=Hard Drive........It sounds to me like it's the fan inside the pc. If it gets the least bit mis-aligned then you'll hear a humming noise. You might want to take it to Best Buy or something and have them check it out. They can probably order a new fan within a day or two and have it replaced for a small amount of money.
Does your computer make noise as if its running even if you are not using it?? If so ....Did you check to see if your computer has any viruses or spyware infesting your computer????

Mine has been humming for over 2 years. I have had 3 fans it still continues to humm.
