You really shouldn't worry about the score. It's been widely de-bunked as almost meaningless. I have a 2.1 score because of the video score and run Vista Premium w Aero perfectly fine.

You would need a better video card to improve your score. Your ram score would also improve if you had a 256mb dedicated video card. Your card now I believe is a hyper-memory card that shares(takes away) from your system ram, probably 128mb. 2GB of ram in Vista your ram score should be 5.9

Mary, someone asked a question and I gave an opinion, I didn't say you have to worry about it. If they take the time to post a question, and I have the time to give a answer, what's the problem?
BTW: It seems ironic what your score happens to be.

kpo127,
I hope you're not expecting any kind of response from Mary G. If you do get one, I'll be astounded !!!!!

Hello!

My ATI Card also gives a 3.6 Base Score. Well, it is not such a big of a deal - the card is enough to run great graphics. And score in high 3's means that computer is fully capable of doing the most functions.

My 2 GB RAM score is 4.6 - I guess it may be applicable to all Inspirons. Don't forget that it is 533 MHz, so it may be 5.9 with users who have six hunded and something MHz. Unfortunately, my wallet barely got 533 MHz covered, considering that I am a college student, and don't have a rich uncle - have to earn my own money hard way working part-time. Well, it pays off, and I am happy I decided to go with Dell and their configuration.

My HDD is made by Samsung and is scored at 4.4, because it is only 5200 rpm. I also found that Fujitsu disk of same size and rpm has a higher score of 4.7 than Samsung, but those are not a big deal of digits - every single hardware varies in performance. My processor is 4.7. Computer works great and I am happy with it most of the time, till it comes to some drivers and their awful incompatibility. Computer-wise, great experience! ATI X1400 offers greater features than are required for a mid-range GOOD configuration for Vista and you will be happy with it, trust me! If you want to, go to http://ati.amd.com/technology/windowsvista/GetReady.html and Run the Assessment. You will see how good your card is - yeah, unfortunately the Dedicated Memory is not enough for the BEST POSSIBLE configuration, but it is in the middle -- offering greater features than mid is even offering - so it is basically the best minus the memory... (the only category that stops it from being the Best possible)

Hope my opinion helps.

Eugene

Hi

Thanks for all opinions from such good minded experts.

By the way, I've been well satisfying with Dell products, especially with my current IE1505 system, and no doubt about it!

Best Regards,

Cordially,
Peter

Ignore that score, it is pointless. If the machine does what you want how you want it to then so what? My system scores well, except for gaming graphics, but as I rarely game I do not care in the slightest.

I'd say Inspiron and Dimension are from 3.5 to 4.5, and it could be pretty normal. XPS system are usually above 4.5, but I haven't seen mor than 5.9
