Yes, I downloaded and installed that, following all of Dell's suggested order of reinstallation of Windows XP then the drivers. Can't imagine what is going on there. Plus. it takes quite a bit longer for my Dell to boot up than before, and it doesn't show any hanging drivers loading up when Windows is starting up.
I think your configuration of computers may take this outside the boundaries of an XP-only solution. You have 3 or more computers with wireless connection, router(s), etc. ?? If so I don't know what I can suggest. If you know your system is clean of malware I would start with these general TS ideas that may apply:
In Device Manager, (temporarily) disable the Linksys driver and reboot.
Now, from Command Prompt run this command:
chkntfs c:
The output should be "...not dirty"
Then run this command:
chkdsk
Then chkdsk /f
If it still won't scan on restart take a look at the "Accepted Answer" in this thread (scroll down). This could be a WEP/SP2 'conflict'; if WEP can be disabled try that and see what bearing that has. Also go offline and disable SP2's firewall and run chkdsk. This is kind of advanced and I'm kind of guessin'.

Run diagnostics, esp on hard drive and ram.

Then, Run a defrag.
Then disable screen saver.

In the general Google world I saw some similar operational problems. They seem related to SP2
