Thanks for the links. That is some good info. When you set up the workgroup does that affect the IP address on my network? I had a error message pop up that said I had conflicting address on my system.
I am not quite sure how these work but it has to know the other computes adrress or something.Every so often my IE will disconnect ani have a box that comes up that allows me to reconnect. Are these associated?Keep me posted.

There are only to ways for that to happen. if this is a totally wired network, then you have set the machines for static addresses whihc you do not need unless you have a server / port forearding running to one of the systems.
The other way would be if one of the machines is wireless and you ae pciking up a signla from a nother network and that conflict you see is from that network not yours.
The "Workgroup" name is just that. A name that identifies a clooections of machines within the same network. Change the name to something unique and if you are suing a wireless router, make sure you change the default password, use nothing les than WPA encryption with a sring password.
As far as the newspapers go, someone once told me that those who care, it doesn't matter to them and for those who don't care, nothing matters. Thanks for your support and thank a soldier in a way they will not know where the kindness came from. It humbles you beyond belief.

Post an output of an ipconfig all from both machines here. Start>run>type ipconfig /all >> C:\ipconfig.txt
Go got your C drive and paste those results here.
You can configure your wireless card to only connect to preferred networks, i.e. yours. My guess is your are connected to another network with one of those machines.
We need to confirm that and then lock down your network.
