Configuring MSN mail to read in Outlook Express
I have a free msn account and used to have it configured to read in Outlook Express. (I removed this feature back in April of last year). Anyhow, I am now trying to reconfigure my free MSN e-mail address to read in outlook express. Does anyone know what the incoming mail (pop, imap) server field should be as well as the outgoing (smtp) server field??? I have researched this on different web sites, which seem to suggest outlook express configuration for msn e-mail account has not been offered for the past couple of years. If this is the case, why was my outlook express continuing to read my msn e-mail less than a year ago?? I cannot call msn tech support for assistance since I do not log onto the internet with msn. Anyone know the answer to my question about the incoming and outgoing server fields??? With the correct information, I can easily use the wizard in outlook express to complete the configuration.

Thanks for replying Kippy. Unfortunately, the site you referenced does not give instructions for configuring MSN mail in Outlook Express. Maybe MSN cannot be configured to Outlook Express but this sure seems strange. I had it configured less than a year ago so these websites out there indicating it can't be done seem contradictory.
Does anyone out there have MSN e-mail and do you have it configured to read in Outlook Express?

Start Outlook Express, Click Tools, and then click Accounts.
Click your additional ISP account name in the list.
Click Properties, Click Servers, Under Outgoing mail (SMTP): replace the existing server name with
smtp.email.msn.com.
Under Outgoing Mail Server, select the My server requires
authentication check box.
Click Settings, Select the Log on using option.
Type your MSN user name in the Account Name box. Do not include the domain portion of your user name (the part that begins with the @
symbol).
Type your MSN password in the Password box.
Select the Log on using Secure Password Authentication check box.
Click OK, Click Apply, Click OK.

Thanks for providing the instructions to configure a free msn e-mail address in outlook express. I did not want to remove my existing e-mail account from outlook express (Earthlink) but rather wanted to add my msn e-mail "in addition" to Earthlink. As a result, I was unable to follow your directions in the exact steps given, but I did make the entries you described where they were applicable in the setup wizard process. Unfortunately, I wasn't successful in making it work. I rec'd the error message copied below.
Unable to logon to the server using Secure Password Authentication. Account: 'MSN mail', Server: 'pop.earthlink.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR unimplemented', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server
