Content.IE5 folder?

Norton detects an adware file in a content.ie5 folder which is a subfolder of my temp. internet files folder. When i try to locate the content.ie5 folder I cannot find it. I tried logging on as a different user and tried to find it but I cannot get access to my folder. How can I find  and get inside this content folder so that I can delete the adware file.

Thanks, PatM

Hi there,

The location of the file is  C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\ContentIE.5

The correct method of cleaning Temp Internet File is to boot your system in safemode, open C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files folder and delete the folder of ContnetIE.... this gets you rid of all the TIFs (could be hidden file.)

God Bless..

The folder's contents (other than the index.dat and its desktop.ini file) will be cleared by clearing your temporary internet cache; IE, tools, internet options, delete files, in the message that pops up check the box delete all offline content, click OK.

No need to go into safe mode.

Here's an excellent program to clean whatever you want. Be very careful of what you leave checked, as there is no going back on most of it. In the case you just mentioned, on the windows tab > check temporary internet files then click the 'analyze' button to review :
