Copy.exe for C: drive

I installed Norton SystemWOrks Premier Edition in my laptop and after that when I tried to open my C :\ drive from My computer by double clinking the mouse, there was an error message saying the could not find copy.exe and try whether it was renamed and even suggested to go to search. I searched and i found one which is xcopy and when i checked the property, it was an extended copy. exe file. I found it in C\i386 folder.

I checked my pc in the office and try to locate where is the error by searching copy.exe in the c:\ drive and found two xcopy files, one in the C;\windows\system32 and the other one is in C:\i386 folder. Is it because of the missing xcopy in C:\windows\system 32 why my C;\ drive could not be open by double clicking the mouse? Is that the effect of the files in C:\windows\system 32?

Do I need to just copy the xcopy file from C:\i386 folder to C;\windows\system32 inorder to resolve this problem?

Please advise me what to do.

May be a virus.

Others say it is a problem with the Norton Software.

Remove the Norton software and see if the problem goes away.

Before I removed Norton but the problem was still there however, that was before I cleaned the viruses. I will try again since the viruses were taken out of the system... But if in case the problem is still there even  after the removal of Norton, what should be the next course of action?

dear mombodog,

I have tried what you have instructed following the steps in the site that you have provided. I full system scanned the c: drive and after run the regedit and try deleting but after the scanning it automatically canceled the files that I supposed to delete in regedit. Howver, when i restarted it and try to open the c: dirve still the same problem exists. By the way just to inform you i have seen three viruses, one is trojan targeted xcopy, other one is bloodhound and the other one is trojan also .... Kindly help me to resolve this problem....
