DSO Exploit

Hi,
Spybot keeps finding 5 instances of DSO Exploit; I get it to "fix problems" then an immediate rescan finds them still there...Are these exploits a serious concern?
I'm on DSL, Norton AV 2004.
On a steep learning curve with new dimension 3000 and windowsXP SP2 and Norton.
Tks for advice! AR

blues-8,

These "DSO Exploits" are known security holes in Windows -- mostly in Internet Explorer.  If your system is fully updated with Windows security updates, then these are of no concern.

You can go here and download the fix for the DSO Exploit in Spybot S&D.

Steve & Augie65,

Tks for your replies; I followed Augie's link and read there, in the editor's note about the prob. being in IE and resolved by MS by recent updates and also that Spybot still finds entry due the program's not being updated to recognize the MS fix...

Tks again to both; I breath easier now! AR

I found a work around for the DSO Exploit results. Just do the following:

To keep Spybot from reporting "DSO Exploit" go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced mode > Settings > Ignore products > click the Security tab > check DSO Exploit.

This should stop the reports.

The DSO alert in Sybot 1.3 is a well known bug. It is fixed in the 1.4 beta release and will be fixed in the next public release of Spybot (1.4).

If you have updated your Windows you have nothing to worry about.
