Delete temp files/folders

What is the best way of clearing temporary files and folders? How about files that are not needed and broken shortcuts, etc?

Have you tried disk cleanup (under system tools)?

Yes, I do a disc cleanup once a week and a defrag once a month.

I use a program that's called JV16 Power Tools 2005 that finds broken shortcuts and useless files. It also

creates a backup in case you remove something that you shouldn't have. It's creator is Macecraft.

I use a FREE program from BrowserTools.Net
It's called IE Privacy Keeper and it lists ALL the locations of temporary files.
I think it's a really good program :)

They also do a 'take away' version if you don't want to install it, so you can run it straight after downloading it. IE Privacy Keeper also allows you to securely delete files, making them unrecoverable from the drive to a certain extent.

Another program I use (well, for cleaning up the Regsitry mainly) is called Ace Utilities from Ace Logix. It can also clean up files, delete custom file types and delete broken shorcuts, delete empty keys in the registry etc. as well.

Microsoft AntiSpyware also includes a 'Tracks Eraser' to clean up your files as well.
