Dell Dock drag n' drop not working..

Hi everyone, I am running Windows Vista Home Premium. It came with the Dell Dock and it worked fine at first, but one day it did not start. Windows Defender reported that it had blocked some startup programs. I opened the Dell Dock thru the start menu, but the drag n' drop functionality had disappeared. I can add and delete new categories, but I cannot drag shortcuts from my desktop into these categories, the cursor displayed is the "unavailable" cursor from the aero regular cursor set.

Is this a permissions problem (I tried running the Dell Dock as an administrator, I tried setting the folder attributions to full control for the "Dell Dock" folder for all users, these did not solve the problem)? Is it an issue with Windows Defender where certain functionalities of the program are blocked (I cannot set the Dell Dock to "permit" because it is "not yet classified", but I read online that this should not matter much in the program functionality)? I also recently installed Avira AntiVir 9 would it be a cause of the problem (I tried disabling the guard, but this did not solve the problem)? Thanks so much for the support :)

I have found the Dell dock software to be buggy a lot and just stopped using it. It is a variant of Stardock and I have to admit it has some nice features  that do not seem to be found on the other docks(Stardock, Rocketdock)

My suggestion would be to uninstall and reinstall it. save your config files and then it should reload fairly  quickly.

Thanks for the prompt response, Davet50. And I actually discovered that I could right click on it, click "advanced settings", and under "settings data", there is an option to move all of the shortcuts on my desktop into the dock. I moved the shortcuts that I wanted to add to the dock onto the desktop, and then I moved them all to the dock using this option. I then rearranged it to my liking.

I have to admit, this is more trouble than is needed, and I will most likely uninstall and reinstall the dock. Hopefully Dell will have future releases that will correct this issue. Thanks again :)
