Dell Factory Image Restore (Not Working)

I tried to restore my vostro 1500 to factory default setting by using Repair my computer from the F8 menu on system boot.  After i loged in as a local user i did not find any dell factory tools / dell factory image restore on the menu.  There was one option of restoration by image but when i clicked it it said no backup image found on HD / dvd.

Anyone knows how to fix the link ? so that i could use the dell restore image.

Another problem since i bought the system is that dell media direct do not start when the system is shutdown. It gives me an error " MD partition not found".  I did not reinstalled / upgraded my OS.   i guess dell forget to setup my laptop completely :)

Please Help,  I do not want to use the OS DVD to reinstall completely, it takes more time

Thankyou,

maple_q,

Contact Dell about your issues, it does sound like the drive was not properly prepared from Dell. They can send you a new properly formatted hard drive for that system.

You need to change SATA Operation on the BIOS to AUTO Detect, then you'll be able to instal XP

Here's the way to do a PCRestore using the DVD. In some cases the F8 option doesn't work, this is another way to do it, takes a couple more clicks, but is the same.

About Media Direct not starting, maybe as mombodog said contacting Dell to get a HDD with the image will help you.

I already did contact dell support though live chat, the best solution they came up with was to perform a new reinstall using OS DVD :)  . and yeah another dell tech guy suggested to run hd diagonestics lol!   anywayz i ran the compelete Dell diagonstics when i first recieved the system to check for any hardware errors but none came out.

i guess i will have to do a fresh install :(   the good side being, saving the 10GB restore partition

Thanks guyz
