Dell PC Restore failed with Decompression Error 10

I have an Inspiron 6000 and I need to restore the system as it was delivered.

- I'm able to issue the ctrl-pf11 during startup and display the restore screen.
- I click on 'Restore' and the hit confirm and the process indicator begins. (dell recovery 1.0 2004) - It gets about 25percent thru, then gives a quick black screen saying 'Abort 19235 decompression error 10'.
- It then displays a window saying 'The system Recovery process was NOT successfull. Please call dell......' The only option at this point it to click Finish.
- Now it will not boot at all. Last msg displayed is 'Loading PBR 2...done'

I'm totally stuck.
Any help would be GREATLY Appreciated.

Thanks for your response Nolo

- I reseated the RAM
- I entered the Boot Menu by hitting pf12 and ran the Diagnostics Extended Test with no errors found. I also ran the Custom Test and selected the HardDrive and found no errors.
- I'm not sure how to run chkdsk. I can't get to any DOS screen. Although, I did run chkdsk before I tried Dell PC Restore and is said the drive was clean.

none of these actions changed my situation.

- I feel like Dell PC Restore utility particially restored the C Drive. and then it failed, leaving me in Limbo land. I agree that the restore files may be corrupt. Is there anything I can do about that? Is there anything Dell will do for me? I bought a PC with the XP operating system. I feel I should own a copy of XP and I should be able to reload it.

Thanks again for your advise.
