?Dell Support Center software missing
I have a Dell Vostro running Windows XP. Somewhere along the line I think I deleted my Dell Support Center software that was oin the machine when I bought it in 2007. Now when I reboot my computer I find Windows is trying to uinstall the software but can't find it. Like wise if I click on Start > All Programs > Dell Support Center > Dell Support Center, a window pops upo saying "Please wait while Windows configures..." Then I get an error 1706, no valid source can be found.
I have the disks that came with the computer. Perhaps I can reinstall the Dell Support Center software from one of these disks, but which one? Drivers and Utilities, Application (seems to be just for Power DVD), or Reinstallation CD?
Anybody know who I should proceed to get the Dell Support Center software back?
Thanks.
John

Since you bought it in 2007, it could be one of 2 versions - an older Dell Support 3.0 with an E icon (no longer supported), or the new Dell Support 2.0 with a blue wrench that came out in late 2007.
2.0 can be downloaded from here:
http://www.dell.com/content/topics/global.aspx/services/en/dsc_home?c=us&l=en&s=gen&redirect=1
If it's the older one, it's listed as R157977 on my machine; archived on Dell's FTP site:
ftp://ftp.dell.com/../app/
However, if it still acts up, you may need to use the Windows Installer Cleanup utility to get install/uninstall working again. See my post in this thread:
