I've been having the same problem. It also looks like the drivers website is down as well. Really frustrating for me (just started a fresh install and can't get drivers)
I called customer support and it took talking to a couple of representatives but I got a hold of the intranet admin and we discussed a few things. They did advise me that Dell has been doing an update to the database of hosted drivers, etc. The downtime was estimated to last until a few hours from now but I am now able to access the information I needed. Thank you though!
The Windows 7 drivers should work just fine (Windows 7 audio driver worked just fine on W8DP), like Vista drivers usually work fine in the absence of a Windows 7 driver. At first blush, from the few machines I've tried W8DP on, it appears to have about the same driver base as Windows 7 - very good but not exhaustive.
It is currently working for me - and has been for the last 30-40 minutes - as I've been getting updated versions of this and that for the various PC's here at work.
What system do you have skippy? What OS are you installing? If it isn't working for you, I'll get you the direct links. Make sure you are using IE.
Yes, Windows 8 Developer Preview. I did see that many of the drivers are installed but that there are a few missing drivers. I understand that Dell doesn't have any pre-release drivers. My standard practice though is to always install the Dell drivers. I was looking at installing the Windows 7 drivers as they'll probably work.
If you mean Windows 8 Developer Preview, keep reading, else stop. Having installed Windows 8 Developer Preview on a few Dell PCs I sincerly doubt you will need any drivers from Dell. What\ever you need will be on the installation media. That includes the infamous chip set drivers. Most drivers on the Dell site, are not written by Dell, as an example the chip set drivers are from Intel or AMD, depending on the processor, The SATA disk drivers are fom Microsoft and most SAS drivers are from LSI. Lastly Dell generally does not have any drivers pre-release software.
I don't follow ... why would it cost? Dell has toll-free numbers for support, and under warranty, they don't charge for the support. Unless your country has certain restrictions - what country are you in?

Why would calling Dell cost you money?
