Dell XPS L501X - Formatting aftermath, please help.
Hi there. Recently I decided to format my laptop to its factory settings to wipe all of my data from the hard drive, start a fresh.
Well at first I was trying to use the Dell Factory Image Restore by pressing F8 on start-up and following the on-screen instructions until I got to a stage where it told me that the factory image was lost or deleted. So I could not use the Dell Datasafe Factory Image Restore.
So I started to look on the internet for ways to format my laptop and re-install Windows 7, I found one.
What I did was...
Pressed F12 on start up, then clicked on run CD-ROM which was the operating system CD that Dell had sent me (Reinstallation DVD Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit), it then started to enter the Windows 7 setup where I had to accept terms and then click which drive to install the new version of Windows 7 on. However, I was told to chose the option 'Format' on the Hard drive (500GB), which in theory would mean it was formatted ready for Windows 7 to be installed and perfectly running. Windows began to install and had finished.
But what I didn't realise was when I clicked 'Format' it deleted all the Dell drivers, all of Dell's software like Local Back-up, Webcam Central and all the drivers and peices of software that was installed on the laptop when I first opened it.
I have been trying to re-install the drivers on the laptop from the CD i was given which is named (Driver resoruces and utilities DVD) but I do not know what im doing and what to install in the correct order.
At the moment, I cannot use my wireless, nVidia graphics, and everything that was installed when i purchased.
I need help getting it back to how it was when i first opened the box. With all the software and drivers.
(Service packs? Updates? Drivers? Like what is the standard procedure for any computer after 'formatting' the hard drives using the Windows 7 setup method
Please help, thanks for your time.
