I don't know exactly what you're referring to, but maybe I can help.

Right click on the icon, and then go to the properties.

Click the Customize tab.

Down at "Folder Icons" try changing it. 

I'm sorry I'm not much of a help, but I noticed no one else posted, so I might try.  Hope it works.

Thanks for the try but there is no place to customize going in that way. What I am referring to is the shortcut icons on my desktop, ex: my computer shortcut and recycle bin shortcut. I found how change when I was messing around one day and thought it was a cool idea. Now I would like the original shortcuts restored but can't find how to do it.

Your idea did point me toward the answer to my question. With a little searching around the location you gave me, I found what I was looking for. Question answered. Thanks.

Try this, Right click mouse on Desktop and choose Properties.

Click Desktop tab at top, lower leftside click Customize desktop.

Although you have fixed problem if you ever want to Change Recycle Bin Icon or Restore again use Kelly's Korner link & scroll to Item: 158
