Desktop Publishing - cross-platform
Hi,
The company I'm working for is looking to invest in new publication software (and leaning towards Pagemaker).
Qualifications:
1) must be cross-platform. ie: Consultants and Printers who use either PC or Mac should be able to load and edit the finished document.
2) cost.. is an issue. This move may result in multiple copies/licences of the publication software being purchased (again for PC and Mac)
Any recommendations?

I'm surprised you're leaning towards Pagemaker. It's still available but being phased out in favor of Adobe InDesign. I don't think it's had a major update since 2001. There are several press releases on the adobe.com site referencing their direction for web and print publishing.

Hi, and thanks for the information.
My employer specifically mentioned Pagemaker because (I think) it's familar. That's all. Years ago, we used _Aldus_ Pagemaker on the Mac. Right now, most of us use PCs. And, as I pointed out, most everything the older Pagemaker was used for could now be done in Word.
Regardless, we have clients who use other platforms. Also, professional printers vary on what they'll accept and can use (format-wise).
