I understand that you are unable to change settings for Direct X and also unable to access the advanced tab in display settings.
ISSUE 1:- Microsoft DirectX is required for running the multimedia features contained within Windows. There is no way to access or make changes to individual DirectX settings. Kindly ensure that you have the latest version of the Direct X by following the link
ISSUE 2:- As far as accessing the advanced display settings is concerned, this computer is shipped with an ATI graphics card.
• Kindly uninstall the video drivers
• Click on Start >> type “Device Manager” in Search Field >> Click on Device Manager.
• Select “Display Adapters” and uninstall the drivers listed below.
• Navigate to "Uninstall a program" (under the "Programs" category) in Windows 7. Find the listing for Catalyst Install Manager and choose change. A window will open. Choose next and then click the radio button that reads "Express uninstall ALL ATI Software". Choose next again and complete the uninstallation. After it is completed, when prompted, restart your computer.
