Driver Software for Sony memory stick/floppy disk adaptor

In most cases, with Windows XP, no driver software is required.  Have you tried just connecting the unit to the PC and then go into Windows Explorer and access the unit as a drive letter?  If you can do that, you should be able to copy from the unit to the hard drive.

 Sony Consumer support contacted me with a number to call.  They also gave me a website to visit. (sony.storagesupport.com.)  I'll let you know how it goes.

http://ciscdb.sel.sony.com/cgi-bin/swu-index.pl?script_id=&mdl_id=854,  this should take you to the updated driver for XP.  If not, go to sony.com, click on electronics, then digital cameras and camcorders, then product service and support on the top of the page, then service and support, launch service digital imaging support page, enter - cyber shot cameras, then search for FD2MA, then click on memory stick (the first choice), go to the model fill in and put MSAC-FD2MA (if that's yours) in the space provided then hit drivers button, and there it is.  Follow the instructions for download and installation carefully because they are about as clear as the above journey to the driver, but worth it because then it works.  Good Luck.

I tried the link you provided but it will not work with my system ( Dell 8300 ) something about not working with multi processors .........follow the other info you provided with no luck.....any ideas would be appreciated !!!

Well, I resolved the problem, but not by installing the floppy disk adaptor.  I went to Best Buy and purchased a memory stick reader.  The salesman directed me to a PNY reader which only cost $20.  I had been ready to buy another brand at $60.  This reader just plugged right into my computer using a USB cord and it works much faster than the floppy disk adaptor.

Jim, sorry you are having difficulty with the adaptor.  Since posting, I have gotten one of those USB card readers for memory sticks.  I don't even have the usb 2 support (which the reader supports) and it is sooooo much faster than our old 3 1/2" adaptor deal.  I got mine for $10 with a $10 rebate (which I am still waiting on) at Office Max.  That is probably your easiest fix if the drivers don't work.  Good Luck.

I have Sony Memory Stick Adapter MSAC-FD2M and Dell's 3½" USB External Floppy Drive attached to Dell Dimensions 4600C running Win XP. I have downloaded Sony drivers for Win XP and installed them. The computer will not read the Memory Stick. It does recognize the Floppy Drive A and will read usual floppies, but not the memory stick.

I have a Dell Laptop with a detachable  3½" floppy drive and using the same Sony XP Downloads on thie laptop, it reads the Memory Stick, no problem. However I wanted to avoid the nuisance of downloading photo files from Memory Stick to LaptopCD to Desk Top which was the rationale for purchasing the USB External Drive.

If you have a solution please help. A post of a specific web site did not find the web site

Mine just says, "Memory Stick Card Reader" and seems to be an off brand.  I think they all work equally well because they are usb.  If you have a newer computer with usb 2, just be sure it is also usb 2.  Usb 2 is backward compatible with usb 1 (that's what I have).  And to answer your question, all you do is plug the reader into your USB port and your computer recognizes it like a cd drive, then you put your memory stick into it and it reads the pictures and you can transfer any you want over to your hard drive.  Very simple.  Just be sure to open the reader from your task bar when you are through and tell it to shut down and give it time to close, just like a cd drive, if you remove the stick before it closes, you could lose pics.
