Drop Down Menu?

When I click on something such as my favorites in Internet Explorer the drop down menu won't stay down.  Any way to fix this?

Exactly what does that link say that is relevant here?

The link is for IE9 ... that, of course, can be reinstalled ... either by file download or through Windows Updates (after uninstalling the update first).

Follow the link for IE8 and there is no option for Windows 7.  Why?  Because it's built-in.

Dude, ignore Victor - he has posted many things that make no sense whatsoever.  Windows 8 is integrated into Windows 7.  It can only be disabled or enabled, but NOT uninstalled.  Since you can't uninstall it, you also cannot install it.

Just like any other part of Windows, you can either try to isolate and eliminate the cause (plugins, addons, toolbars, software, etc. using msconfig and/or Safe Mode), or try to fix the corrupted files (CHKDSK /R and SFC /SCANNOW, or System Restore ... or possibly even a reinstall/factory restore).

Are you using IE8 or IE9?  What other software, utilities, toolbars, addons do you have installed?

How do you reinstall and uninstall Internet Explorer 8 in Windows 7?

I will reinforce what "theflash1932" is saying.

Does this problem ONLY occur in Internet Explorer?  Does other Program drop down menus work OK? or do you have the same problem in other Programs?

If it is only IE, try updating to IE9 and see if that fixes it. If it is happening with other programs, it is something else.

You have not answered our questions, so we do not have enough information to proceed with additional suggestions. The more information that we have, the better we are able to help. Are you still having the problem since updating the browser to IE9?

Jasonc126,

Open Internet Explorer. Click on View, explorer bars, then click on Favorites.

This will keep the sidebar on the side until you click on the x to close it.

"Could it be my mouse?"

Not likely, unless you have some out-of-the-ordinary mouse ... even then, it would probably cause more random and wide-spread issues than just your Favorites button.  However, if you have a regular/standard mouse, give it a try.

"Any other suggestions?"

As has been stated, you have been asked several questions and given several good suggestions - generic (as we are lacking details) but generally and genuinely good suggestions that can - and do - fix many issues.  Which have you tried, and what were the results?

What were the results for each thing you tried?  The results could indicate a problem that might be fixed another way or that might not be fixable at all.
