Dual TV Tuner Card - How to select inputs?
I've read various messages cursing this combination: A dual TV tuner card + XP Media Center + Dimension 9100......unfortunately I'm stuck with this combination and would like to know how I can select the multiple TV inputs in my Media Center.
So i setup my satellite receiver on input one,, did all the remote/codes settings and its working fine.
Then I tried to connect my VCR at Input#2 of TV tuner card,,,, I went through the TV setup (didnt find much setting related to VCR but I still kept on moving ahead as a set top box),,,, and after the basic setup steps the picture came up:-).... I was so happy to see it... then came the remote part,,, i picked some codes and finshed the setup...
Now came the issue,..... how do I select Satellite (conected to input #1) vs. my VCR (connected to input #2)... seems like the Media Center blindly goes after my 1st input and all the setting I did for 2nd input are there but no way to select it..... can anyone suggest a solution/work-around,,, or is it just the cursed combination of SW and HW :-(

unfortunately Media Center in a dual tuner setup only allows for two identical sources. (with the exception of a one regular/one HD card setup) I'm hoping this will change in a future update/version. It is a frequently requested feature.
I have seen this solution offered.

Please note the very first sentence. "PROCEED WITH CAUTION"
I neither recommend nor endorse this procedure but provide it for your information. As with any registry edit complete and verified backups are recommended.
P.S. I use a VCR in my setup and put it "inline" on the cable. It is watchable by tuning Media Center to channel 3.
