Error 1068 when trying to enable services,can anyone explain, please?

Question

Trying to enable some of my services (local) via the use of start Run services.msc   Several disabled services wil not enable due to above error message: the dependency service or group failed to start. Don't have an XP CD - this system was preloaded.

What now?????????

There is an option when booting from Your XP CD. Repair the current windows installation.
