Error Code Information

Question

I have WinXP and Inspiron 8600. I have been having some problems so I ran the diagnostics utility and get 3 error messages related to the diskette drive A. Error Code 1100:022A Drive didn't respond in a fixed time to an access attempt. Diskette Drive seek test. Error Code 1100:032A Diskette Drive Read test Error Code 1100:042A ---Also related to the diskette drive. The problem is that I have the error codes but I have no clue what I need to do to fix the problem. What initially prompted the dgnstc. test doesn't seem to have anything to do with the error codes, for some odd reason I am having difficulty connecting to my wireless network and I didn't have this problem prior to a system crash a few weeks ago. I did bring my laptop in and everything was backed up onto a disk but my computer was basically restored back to its original clean slate. Any suggestions? Your advice is greatly appreciated!!!

If you have a floppy disk drive in this laptop, then you probably ran the diagnostics without a 3.5" diskette in the drive so those errors were reported. Put a formatted floppy in the drive and run the diagnostics again. If the errors recur, then the floppy drive needs repair/replacement. If they don't recur, then the drive is OK and it was just the absence of the diskette causing the errors.
