Error in IEXPLORE, Need Help!!!

Question

Using Win 98 SE and Iam trying to get my dsl on but anyways even if Iam not conncected to my dsl connection when I go into internet explorer and write an address and push enter or click go it gives me this error 'IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in module unknown' I tried it in Netscape and same problem but in netscape and this happens if I log into my dsl connection I tried deleting my pwl, error checking and others whats wrong? Lets just say I got to have Windows 98 I tried doing a internet explorer restore and no change I tried taking the ethernet card out and turning it on, same error, and then put it back in, same error. Before I had Iexplore 6, now I have 5.5 same error. I need an answer other then format or clean install. Please Help Just to paraphrase my problem: When I try going into a website, instead of poping up a message that says if you want to conncect or stay offline or going to the page, I get an error: 'IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in module unknown' Please Help

I installed Winppoe

I have installed USB drivers which the computer didnt like

Did an windows update from my Verizon cd for IE

with this error code

0000:4f444e49

or

0000:76614a5c

Thanks for using the Dell Community Forum.

It doesn't look as though many people out there have a solution other than an clean install of Windows 98. I'll keep this here and hopefully somebody will come along with another solution.
