FYI: USERENV event ID 1517 fix

Finally found the solution to USERENV warnings and slow logoffs and shutdowns!!!

I had to deal with the above for almost 2 years!!!

HERE

You may have to reboot or logoff a few times to see results. Then it should be faster!!!

I had userenv warnings on every shutdown in event viewer

On my desktop, the program I suggested showed the following 3 applications preventing a fast logoff:

Winlogin.exe (or winlogon)
Lsass.exe
SMC.exe (Sygate personal firewall)

On my laptop:
Winlogon.exe
Lsass.exe

This patch may be useful to those who have constant userenv warnings.

So, apparently, XP isn't perfect, until this patch, anyway. :)

Useful info, I occasionally have a Userenv warning event ID 1517 appear, but rarely and have not noticed slow shutdowns. But I do note that in the Readme file it says

Windows XP and 2003:
The profile is reconciled using a copy of the contents of the registry.  The
user is not made to wait as in Windows 2000.  The problem left is that the
computer cannot recover the memory the profile uses until it can be unloaded.

So in XP I would be surprised if it would speed up shut down ?

Also, the advice in event viewer is to set services to run in Local service or network service accounts, rather than  a User account.

Very useful tool, I finally figured out which service was leaving all these Userenv errors (Sygate Personal Firewall)

I wish Sygate would fix the issue :D

No Events found!
